Raven’s Rest Hermitage

The Silence, the Solitude, and the Solace of God

are palpable at Still Wood.

Being present to the Presence

Raven’s Rest Hermitage, the fully furnished two-room apartment located on the lower level of Still Wood, our home, has now been fully renovated and upgraded, and is available once again for individual retreats.

Among a number of improvements is a completely new kitchen space with electric range, full size refrigerator, microwave, and easy access to laundry. It is now much better equipped to accommodate long-term residents as well as individual retreatants and shorter stays by friends and guests.

The Hermitage, with its own private entrance, is situated on a forested mountainside of the Newfound Range in the rural Smokies and surrounded by a thousand acres of undeveloped woodlands.
Raven’s Rest has a single bedroom, updated 3/4 bath (shower, no tub), kitchen, and sitting room. We ask retreatants to bring their own food and donate whatever they can for their stay.  Guests may walk wooded trails over private property including lovely ponds with beautiful views.  Spiritual guidance is available upon request, but no formal programs are offered. It has been suggested to us that individuals planning a sabbatical or period of renewal (3months to a year) might find Raven’s Rest the perfect place for quiet uninterrupted reading, writing, and reflection.
